The Dixie Dude Ranch is the perfect place for a Texas Hill Country vacation. Our full service dude ranches are situated just outside of San Antonio near Bandera, the undisputed cowboy capital of the world. With wide-open skies and a temperate climate, the Dixie Dude Ranch is what most people envision as the perfect western style getaway for family vacations. We are not a resort ranch, but a real working ranch founded back in 1901. We are in our fifth generation of providing perfect Texas Hill Country Vacations.
A Texas Hill Country Vacation would certainly be incomplete without plenty of range style cookouts, horseback rides, rustic yet modern accommodations, and hiking trails. Most of the food is cooked outdoors over open flames in true cowboy fashion. We are sure you will enjoy all of our carefully prepared range specialties. Horseback rides are available daily and advanced rides are available for adults. Our rooms are sure to delight. They have all the amenities you would expect from a hotel, including air conditioning, vented heating, private bathrooms, and a full service maid. On our hiking trails you can hunt for arrowheads and fossils, or just mosey along and enjoy the breathtaking scenery. Y'all will experience a healthy dose of Texan hospitality from our friendly staff who is always eager to please.
For those who are serious about a true western adventure, we offer an overnight trail ride package for groups of five or more. It includes two nights at the ranch, and one night camping out on the open range. We leave at lunchtime on horseback, accompanied by an authentic chuck wagon and a crew of ranch hands that will be your guides, cooks, and entertainers. You will sleep in a tepee under the massive blanket of stars that shines over this gorgeous part of the state. In the morning enjoy a true trail breakfast and coffee before the leisurely ride back.
